Hello, and welcome to my online store. I’m really excited to be here, and wanted to share a little about my self.
My name is Tash and I live at the foothills of the beautiful Dandenong Ranges just out of Melbourne with my husband, two adult children and Kobe the French Bulldog (my third child)! My kids are definitely my biggest achievement. They make me proud every single day and I couldn’t imagine life without them.
I love all fibre crafts, but my main ‘vice’ is crochet. I learnt to knit from my grandmother when I was really young, but it wasn’t something I continued to pursue at the time. I taught myself to crochet when I was pregnant with my daughter and crocheted her a basic granny square blanket, but then didn’t pick up a hook again for 18 years.
Then about 5 years ago, I went to a couple of crochet classes with Bali from Yarn Corner Studio, where I not only refreshed my skills and learnt a whole lot more, but also formed a great friendship. I love to crochet because I find it relaxing and it helps easy my anxiety.
One day I had a dream about opening a yarn store. It was warm and cosy, walls lined with yarn, tables and chairs - even couches for people to sit, chat, crochet and drink coffee.
The would be a place for sharing ideas, patterns and advice. A place for likeminded people to come and enjoy company whilst doing what they love.
A place to catch up with friends, and a place to buy yarn and yarn paraphernalia.
Got Yarn was always the name, but it was money to set up the dream that was the problem. With a bit of a nudge from a friend I decided to try an online store to see if there was demand and if it would be viable to open a store.
So, welcome to step one, my online store, and a big thank you for being here!
I have my fingers crossed that The Dream will one day turn into reality with a Got Yarn brick and mortar store, where you will all be welcome to visit, chat, craft and drink coffee - my special skill of carrying 19 coffee mugs in one hand will be put to good use!
